Break up the Monotony

Whatever you do in terms of exercise, you must keep it fresh and interesting or you will soon give it up entirely. Have you seen those vita courses? You walk from one point to the next, then stop and perform the specified exercise. You may be asked to do some pull-ups or push-ups. You may be asked to stretch, or do a short step routine. This way you work different muscle groups and keep your walk interesting.

Don't live near a vita course? Make one of your own. Throw in a few toe touches or jumping jacks. Get creative. Have fun! Keep exercising!

Hi Theresa,

You are making me feel guilty for not exercising more - hmm... must be a message there for me.

Hi, Theresa,

One of the problems of living in the midwest is that it gets SOOOO hot outside in the summer it's difficult to want to go outside - especially to exercise.

I find that some exercise videos that I can do in the house help me during the hot summer months. Right now my favorites are the TurboJam DVDs. They're sort of a cross between dancing and kickboxing to music. Fun!

Hi there,

I agree: it's very easy to get into a pattern of boredom and much hard to create an interesting schedule for exercises that is motivating.

The vita courses are a first for me, but being from a small town, I don't imagine there are any close to me. I'll have to look them up. Sounds fun.

Have a great day, Theresa.

Hi Theresa,
I never heard of a vita course. Interesting. But I love the idea of it.
